Step 3: budget
Add 15-20% contingency on top of the quoted amount — unexpected costs always arise. Keep materials and labour costs separate. Premium materials are not always justified — get contractor advice.
Step 4: choosing a contractor
Minimum 3 quotes from different companies. Check real completed work and reviews. Contract with clear timelines and liability. Stage payments — never 100% upfront.
